Can indoor ski training replace skiing on snow?
No single indoor environment reproduces all the demands of skiing. Use indoor practice for defined tasks and assess outdoor performance separately. Terrain reading, variable snow and independent route choices need their own practice. Understand the transfer gap.
Is a moving belt the same as a dry slope?
No. A moving belt carries a manufactured surface beneath the skier. A fixed dry slope has a stationary synthetic surface. Their mechanics and operating procedures differ. Neither should be assumed equivalent to refrigerated snow. Compare the environments.
Which system is best for beginners?
There is no universal best system. Suitability depends on instruction, operating procedures, the athlete and the task. Ask the facility about induction and progression. Confirm how the athlete stops and exits before increasing difficulty.
Does a symmetrical score mean better technique?
Not necessarily. Task demands, equipment and sensor placement can affect symmetry. A score alone is not a diagnosis or a technical verdict. Check calibration and the meaning of the metric before choosing a correction. Trace the measurement.
Can I compare scores from different machines?
Usually not without a validated common definition and comparable measurement methods. Keep comparisons within a documented setup. Even on the same machine, changes to software, assistance or equipment can alter the interpretation.
How long should a session last?
There is no single suitable duration. The operator and coach should account for familiarity, task difficulty, recovery and safe movement quality. Longer is not automatically more useful. Stop for pain, unusual symptoms, loss of safe control or an equipment concern. Plan the session sequence.
Can a simulator support return after injury?
It may be part of a clinician-led plan, but simulator performance does not provide medical clearance or establish readiness for unrestricted skiing. Discuss restrictions, progression and warning signs with the responsible clinician and the facility.
What should I record after practice?
Record the question, equipment settings, assistance, measurement setup, observation, athlete feedback and next decision. Separate facts from explanations. “The score increased” and “the athlete learned a transferable skill” are different claims.
Does this website send my contact message?
No. The contact tool prepares plain text locally. You can copy or download it, then choose whether to send it through your own email application. Do not include medical records or sensitive athlete information. Prepare a message.
